What are cookies?

Cookies and similar technologies are small files or identifiers that websites may store on, or read from, a visitor's device.

What this website stores on your device

Two things, both of which stay on your device and neither of which is sent to us:

• The cookie preference you choose when you first arrive, so that you are not asked again on every page.
• What the 'Did you know' bulb has already shown you, and anything you have told it about what you are looking for, so that it does not repeat a question or ask you twice.

How we count visits

We record which pages are read, roughly where in the world a visit came from, whether it was on a phone or a computer, and which website or advertisement it arrived through. This tells us which parts of the project people want to know about, and it is the only way we can tell whether our advertising is reaching anyone.

It is done without cookies and without storing anything on your device. Your IP address is never saved. It is converted into a short code, mixed with a value that changes every midnight, and it is that code which is counted, so the same code cannot be matched to you, and today's code cannot be matched to yesterday's. Nobody, ourselves included, can work back from what is stored to who was reading.

Nothing recorded here identifies you, and none of it is joined to an enquiry you submit or shared with anyone outside the company. Because it holds no personal information and places nothing on your device, it runs as part of operating the website rather than as something you are asked to permit.

Information you give us yourself

An enquiry form is different. What you type into one (your name, mobile number, email address and what you are interested in) is personal information you have chosen to give us, and it is covered by the Privacy Policy rather than by this one.

Advertising and measurement technologies

The website does not currently use advertising or measurement technologies from Google, Meta or any other advertising platform.

Were we to add them, they would be used to measure campaign performance and enquiry conversions, they would be loaded only after you have accepted them, and this policy would be updated to say so before they were switched on.

Functional technologies

Maps, videos, WhatsApp links and other embedded content from third parties may set their own cookies when you use them. Those are governed by the policies of whoever provides them.

Your choices

The notice shown on your first visit lets you accept or refuse anything that is not essential. You can also clear or block cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Refusing non-essential cookies does not stop you using the website, and it does not stop us counting your visit, because counting it does not use cookies.

Third party technology providers may process information according to their own policies. Please review the relevant third party terms where necessary.
