Vrindavan is where Krishna spent his childhood, and the town has been built around that for centuries. Banke Bihari, Radha Raman, Radha Damodar, Prem Mandir, the ISKCON temple — people come for all of them.
The Yamuna runs along one side. The parikrama marg runs right around the town, and people walk it barefoot every day, most of them before sunrise.
Braj Vrindaan is a few minutes outside that. Close enough to be part of it. Far enough to be quiet.

- The parikrama
- The circuit around Vrindavan, walked daily. Govardhan is a longer one, twenty-one kilometres around the hill. The Braj parikrama, eighty-four kos, takes weeks and people still do it.
- Mangala aarti
- The first aarti of the day, before light. Banke Bihari, Radha Raman and the older temples each keep their own hours.
- Holi in Braj
- Barsana and Nandgaon days before anyone else, then Vrindavan. The town fills. It is the one week a year nothing else happens.
- The ghats
- Keshi Ghat and the others along the Yamuna. Quiet most of the day, busy at dusk.
- Nidhivan
- The grove in the middle of the old town. The green reserve inside Braj Vrindaan is named for it.
